Another week, another sporting event! April 15th, 2006 The Ultimate Fighting Championship makes it's debut in California at the Anaheim Arrowhead Pond. And guess who was in attendance? You got it, me and my bro-ham! The card was stacked ads the two main battles were what everyone came to see. Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin and the Main Event between Andrei Arlovski and Tim Sylvia. I am huge Arlovski fan, so much that needing a possible last name I thought about adding his to my "Ivan" first name. I have been waiting to see this show for months and came with $$$ in hand. I was like a silly kid in a candy store, scooping up merchandise. I got stuff for me, my bro, and my girl. LOTS of STUFF [click] The stuff for Kami is a surprise and has been removed from the picture to protect the integrity as well as my crazy insanity. I will repost the full picture once the UFC loving hottie gets her stuff.

My brother and I both agreed that the event would be filled with Testosterone and tattoos and piercings. As we walked through the doors we were not disappointed. I asked my bro if he wanted to play a stare down game with some of the guys walking around. After a chuckle we both agreed that would have been a silly and dangerous game to play. I jumped into the merchandise line and bought some stuff, I eventually made my way back there two more times filling up my arms with cool ass UFC gear. I was a mark of all marks but it was a cool experience to go through, so what the hell.

We eventually made our way to out first balcony row seating. Cool seats and cool atmosphere. There was so much machismo in the air. Rawr! They all said in their own way. The first two hours were filled with some awesome pre-PPV battles, especially the Karo Parisyan ass kicking he put on big mouth Nick Thompson. Also the amazing knockdown recovery and eventual destruction by Thiago Alves on Derrick Noble brought the entire place to an amazing eruption.

As the actual PPV began, I got a message from Kami saying she just ordered the event and was looking for me in the crowd. I miss her and wish she was there as well. The girl loves the UFC. The first fight was good and went the distance between Jeff Monson who defeated Marcio "Pe de Pano" Cruz by split decision. The next fight brought the crowd to it's feet as Evan Tanner showed this young fighter Justin Levens how the veterans do it, as he pummeled then eventually triangle choked him out. Great match as the young guy with a the funny hair was very respectful with a bow at the end. I won't mention the crap that was booked between the two big fights. BUT during that match the crown in our section was treated to a great fight. As these two fans began to brawl, one of the grabbed the other and threw him down 5 rows of seats then jumped on him and beat his aaarrssee! The crowd went nuts for a few minutes while the rest of the poor audience was stuck watching Nick Diaz and Sean Sherk bore them to death on the octagon. When the security finally broke it up, the winner got a standing ovation form all of us as he high fived everyone on the way out, no short but a bunch of respect.

The hometown Tito Ortiz, the bad boy of the UFC, was about to battle the Ultimate Fighter TV show champ and fan favorite Forrest Griffin. Griffin was the first to come out and the fans erupted as it felt like an earthquake inside. Then came out Tito to a whole lot of Boos which was terrible since he is the local guy. [VIDEO] He had an awesome entrance then the crowd turn in his favor. The fight was like a Rocky movie. fans chanting "Tito" [VIDEO] then "'Forrest" it was amazing. My bro and I were screaming, yelling, high fiving! People were going nuts around us with every punch. [VIDEO] I wish Kami was there to enjoy it but at least she saw it on TV. Tito won the first, Forrest the second, and the third was a crazy free for all. Standing ovation inside and the then people booed as Tito go the decision. Great fight with the Main Event to come.

In the Main Event my bo Andrei Arlovski hurt Tim Sylvia the got sloppy and walked into a solid punch that took him out. It sucked because I was rooting for the fighter from Belarus but he lost fair and square. I am still a big fan but for now will not be changing my name to Ivan Arlovski.

Other highlights came as Ken Shamrock was booed every time he was on the big screen, while Liddell was cheered. My friend Sal got to meet Royce Gracie before the show. And we ate a bunch of food. Another event, another cool compliment about my jersey. This time it was the green NY Jets John Riggins jersey. As we were looking for our truck, a car loaded with what we presume Jet fans ... chanted J E T S, Jets, Jets, Jets!
